Lot38 coffeehouse was one of the first coffeeshops to show up in the newly revived Navy Yard neighborhood of DC. At the time of writing Lot38 is 8 years old and I have been going there since it opened. Without a doubt my favorite coffee shop in DC, it has more to do with the great family that runs it. I was a regular when I lived around the corner and would be in there multiple times a week, and since moving a little further away I still go back when I can. The staff still remember my drink as well as my wife’s and always ask how the other is doing. It’s Illy coffee which makes it that much better for me. If you are looking at the food, the smoked salmon on everything bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and capers is great, as it the sausage egg and cheese on ciabatta. If you are in for lunch I would recommend the bahn mi sandwich. There is a small space upstairs to get some work done as well. If you are in Navy Yard stop in and tell them Mike that travels a lot sent you!
